In recent years, the yachting industry has seen a noticeable shift toward environmentally conscious boating. From owners to builders and […]

In recent years, the yachting industry has seen a noticeable shift toward environmentally conscious boating. From owners to builders and even to the charter guests, everyone is seeking vessels that reduce emissions, improve efficiency, and minimize environmental impact, without having to sacrifice comfort or performance. With this, one vessel sits at the center of this movement: the catamaran. With innovative design, cleaner propulsion options, and reduced fuel demand, catamarans are becoming leaders in sustainable yachting.

Efficiency Through Design

Unlike traditional yachts, catamarans feature two hulls that allow them to slice through the water with significantly less resistance. This hydrodynamic advantage requires less engine power to achieve the same speeds, translating to reduced fuel consumption and emissions. This efficiency makes the catamaran one of the most eco-friendly types of boating in the market.

Harnessing Renewable Energy

Many modern catamarans are now designed to integrate renewable energy systems seamlessly. Their expansive roof space is ideal for solar panels, allowing owners to power appliances, charge batteries, and run onboard systems without relying as heavily on generators. These types of systems allow for longer periods of silent, emission-free cruising.

Lighter Materials

Advancements in composite materials have led to lighter and stronger hulls. A lighter yacht requires less propulsion force, giving owners better range and reduced fuel costs. These materials also extend the vessel’s lifespan and require less maintenance, reducing overall ecological footprint.

Alternative Propulsion Options

As the industry embraces green innovation, catamarans are at the forefront of electric and hybrid propulsion. Dual motor configurations make it easier to incorporate regenerative energy and backup redundancy, giving sailors peace of mind while dramatically reducing emissions. This results in quieter cruising with less vibration and reduced environmental disruption.

Minimal Wake, Minimal Impact

Another benefit of catamarans is their low wake profile. Shallow drafts and balanced hulls allow for smooth gliding across the water, reducing shoreline erosion and protecting coastal environments. This is especially valuable in ecologically sensitive regions.

A Better Experience at Anchor

Because of their wide beam, catamarans offer excellent stability. This allows boaters to spend more time under sail instead of running engines at anchor for stabilization systems. Less fuel burned means fewer emissions released into marine ecosystems.

Comfort Meets Responsibility

While sustainability is becoming a top consideration, owners still demand luxury. Fortunately, catamarans deliver both:

Luxurious, spacious layouts

More natural ventilation

Panoramic living spaces

Lower operating noise

This combination of comfort and conscience is why so many new yacht buyers are choosing multihulls.

Navigator Yacht Group: Your Trusted Catamaran Experts

If you’ve been dreaming about smooth sailing, extra room to relax, and unforgettable time on the water, a catamaran just […]

If you’ve been dreaming about smooth sailing, extra room to relax, and unforgettable time on the water, a catamaran just might be the perfect choice. These multi-hulled boats have become increasingly popular across the U.S. thanks to their comfortable layouts, great stability, and fun performance. Before getting started, it’s helpful to think through a few key points to make sure your new boat matches your cruising style, goals, and long-term plans.

At Navigator Yacht Group, we’re here to make the catamaran-buying journey exciting, stress-free, and tailored to you. Here’s what to keep in mind as you get started.

Why a Catamaran?

Compared to other vessels like monohulls, catamarans offer:

Superior stability on the water

More living space thanks to wide beams and multiple entertainment zones

Can get into shallow areas and small island bays more easily

Uses less fuel and moves more smoothly when running on engines

Whether your plans include weekend sunset cruises or long-distance passages, a catamaran can dramatically enhance your time on the water.

Discover Your Cruising Goals

Before falling in love with a layout (because you will), ask yourself:

Will you use the catamaran for coastal cruising, bluewater passages, or charter?

Do you plan to live aboard full-time?

How many passengers do you typically host?

Your answers to these kind of questions is a good start to determine your must-have features. Cruisers planning offshore passages may want larger fuel and water capacity, while weekenders may prioritize entertainment-forward layouts.

Size & Layout Considerations

Most U.S. buyers gravitate toward 40–55 ft catamarans. Here’s why size matters:

Larger cats offer more cabin space and storage, but increased docking limitations.

Smaller cats are easier to handle and less expensive to maintain, but may sacrifice comfort for long trips.

Popular layouts include:

Owner’s Layout — private, spacious suite ideal for liveaboards.

Charter Layout — multiple, equal cabins for hosting guests or bookings.

New vs. Used Catamaran

New Catamarans

Modern tech and updated systems

Full warranty

Customizable options (build wait times can be long)

Used Catamarans

Immediate availability

Proven performance history

More price flexibility

Survey & Sea Trial

Never skip:

A certified marine survey to inspect structure, systems, and safety

A sea trial to evaluate handling, engine performance, and any potential concerns

These steps protect your investment, give you peace of mind, and strengthen your negotiation position. A professional broker will always guide you through the survey and sea trial to ensure you’re making a confident, well-informed purchase.

Why Work With a Catamaran Specialist?

The U.S. boat market is competitive, and inventory can move quickly. However, not all brokers are created equally. By partnering with a broker who specializes in multihulls, you benefit from their deep knowledge of the catamaran market and can feel confident you’re making informed decisions. You’ll also gain access to valuable industry connections and off-market opportunities, giving you an edge in a fast-moving market and helping reduce stress throughout the process.

Other reasons a catamaran specialist is beneficial:

Access to off-market opportunities

Objective brand insights

Negotiation leverage

Seamless documentation support

Buying a catamaran in the U.S. is an exciting journey. With the right guidance, you’ll find a vessel that elevates your cruising lifestyle — whether you’re exploring Florida’s coastline, hopping through the Caribbean, or setting your sights on international waters.

When it comes to purchasing a catamaran, one of the biggest decisions you’ll face is whether to buy new or […]

When it comes to purchasing a catamaran, one of the biggest decisions you’ll face is whether to buy new or used. Both options offer unique advantages — and understanding which fits your lifestyle, budget, and sailing goals can make all the difference.

As an experienced yacht broker specializing in catamarans and multihulls, Navigator Yacht Group helps buyers and sellers navigate every stage of the process — from listing and marketing pre-owned vessels to guiding clients through a new build with Comar Yachts, our exclusive European partner.

Why Consider a New Catamaran?

A new catamaran offers the peace of mind that comes with modern design, warranty protection, and zero maintenance history. If you’re looking for cutting-edge performance, customization, and the latest onboard technology, a new build might be the smarter long-term investment.

Benefits of buying new include:

Customization: Choose layouts, finishes, and equipment tailored to your cruising plans.

Technology & Efficiency: Newer models feature advanced hull designs, hybrid propulsion options, and lightweight carbon construction.

Warranty & Service: A brand-new catamaran means fewer surprises and full manufacturer support.

Resale Value: A new yacht often retains value longer, especially if it’s a high-end European build like a Comar C-Cat.

Navigator Yacht Group represents Comar Yachts in the United States — a brand known for Italian craftsmanship, innovative composite construction, and performance-oriented multihulls. From the C-Cat 38 to the flagship C-Cat 65, these yachts balance comfort, speed, and premium design excellence.

Why Choose a Used Catamaran?

A used catamaran can be an excellent option for buyers looking to enter ownership at a lower price point or those who want a proven vessel ready to cruise immediately.

Advantages of buying used include:

Lower Upfront Cost: Significant savings compared to new builds.

Immediate Availability: No waiting period for construction or delivery.

Pre-Outfitted Vessels: Many pre-owned catamarans come fully equipped with electronics and cruising gear.

Depreciation Advantage: The previous owner absorbs the steepest portion of value drop.

However, used boats can vary widely in condition. This is where working with an experienced catamaran yacht broker becomes essential. Navigator Yacht Group conducts thorough evaluations, market analyses, and professional photography and videography to ensure both buyers and sellers get fair value.

How Navigator Yacht Group Adds Value

Whether you’re buying a used catamaran, commissioning a new build from Comar Yachts, or preparing to sell your vessel, our team brings decades of combined experience in brokerage, new-build management, and after-sales support.

Here’s how we help you make the smartest decision:

Accurate Market Valuation: Access to proprietary sales data and real-world pricing insights.

Comprehensive Listings: Professionally prepared listings that attract serious buyers.

New-Build Representation: Seamless coordination with Comar Yachts for custom orders and deliveries.

Making the Smart Choice

Ultimately, the smarter buy depends on your specific goals.
If you want a turnkey cruiser with immediate availability and value in mind, a used catamaran may be ideal. If your priority is performance, personalization, and long-term ownership, a new build like the Comar C-Cat series is a rewarding investment.

At Navigator Yacht Group, we’re here to guide you every step of the way — whether you’re ready to explore pre-owned listings, list your current multihull, or begin your new-build journey with Comar Yachts.

When yacht enthusiasts think of a catamaran, a few defining traits often come to mind: sleek styling, advanced engineering, luxurious comfort, and exhilarating performance. European shipyards have long been at the forefront of this balance, producing multihulls that are as beautiful as they are capable.

One builder that exemplifies this is Comar Yachts, a storied Italian shipyard that blends craftsmanship with cutting-edge design. In this post, we’ll explore what makes European catamarans exceptional — and how Comar Yachts sets itself apart.

What Defines a European Catamaran?

While every builder has its unique identity, several qualities consistently define European-built multihulls:

Elegant Design – Every curve is deliberate, with seamless transitions between interior and exterior spaces.

Engineering Innovation – Use of lightweight composites and carbon for strength without excess weight.

Performance Meets Comfort – These yachts are designed to sail fast while still living like luxury homes on the water.

Customization – Owners can choose layouts, finishes, and options to fit their lifestyle.

Safety & Standards – Compliance with strict CE classifications ensures long-term quality and security.

Comar Yachts: Italian Craftsmanship Meets Innovation

Founded in 1961, Comar Yachts has built a reputation for combining performance-driven hulls with artisan-level interiors. Known initially for its Comet monohulls, the company expanded into multihulls with its C-Cat line of catamarans.

Unlike many builders, Comar maintains strong in-house production capabilities, from carbon masts and crossbeams to interiors and upholstery. This gives them a high level of quality control and consistency — a signature of top European yards.

The Comar C-Cat Line: Catamarans Built for Performance and Style

C-Cat 38 – Sporty and Balanced

The C-Cat 38 catamaran offers an ideal mix of speed, efficiency, and comfort. With a generous sail plan, lightweight composite construction, and a carefully engineered hull, it’s agile under sail while still offering bright, comfortable living spaces.

C-Cat 48 – Inspired by Performance Multihulls

Designed by the Yacht Design Collective, the C-Cat 48 takes inspiration from performance multihulls like Outremer and Gunboat. Twin aft helms, clean deck layouts, and a spacious cockpit–saloon connection make this catamaran a sailor’s dream — fast, responsive, and practical for long passages.

C-Cat 56 – Bluewater Cruising Refined

At 56 feet, this catamaran strikes the balance between performance and liveaboard comfort. Its infusion-built hulls and powerful sail plan make it capable of covering serious miles, while its spacious interiors make life on board luxurious.

C-Cat 65 – The Flagship of Comar Yachts

The stunning C-Cat 65 catamaran showcases everything Comar stands for: high-performance sailing, expansive interiors, and advanced carbon infusion techniques. It’s designed for sailors who want both speed and space, making it ideal for world cruising in luxury.

Why Choose a Comar Catamaran?

Italian Craftsmanship – Attention to detail and artisan finishes throughout.

Performance DNA – Light, stiff construction for exhilarating sailing.

Customization Options – Layouts and finishes tailored to each owner.

In-House Expertise – From carbon components to fine interiors, quality is controlled at every step.

Navigator Yacht Group: Your Connection to Comar Yachts

Catamaran vs. Motor Yacht: Why a Catamaran Might Be the Smarter Choice When it comes to purchasing a new boat, […]

Catamaran vs. Motor Yacht: Why a Catamaran Might Be the Smarter Choice

When it comes to purchasing a new boat, the decision between a catamaran and a motor yacht can feel overwhelming. Both vessels promise luxury and adventure on the open water, but they deliver very different experiences. If you’re wondering why a catamaran may be the right choice for your lifestyle, Navigator Yacht Group is here to help.

A boat is more than an investment—it’s a reflection of your boating goals and personal style. Here’s why choosing a catamaran could be the perfect decision for your next seafaring adventure.

At Navigator Yacht Group, we specialize in helping our clients explore our catamarans and multihulls for sale that align with their lifestyle, budget, and goals.

Catamaran Stability and Comfort: A Smoother Ride

One of the biggest advantages of a catamaran is stability. Unlike motor yachts with a single hull, catamarans feature two parallel hulls that reduce side-to-side rolling. The wider stance creates a smoother ride, even in rough seas.

For guests prone to seasickness or those who value comfort, the stability of a catamaran ensures a far more enjoyable experience—whether you’re underway or anchored in a bay.

Spacious Layouts and Livability

If space matters, a catamaran yacht delivers. The dual-hull design allows for:

Expansive decks for entertaining

Larger salons and cabins

Outdoor areas perfect for dining or lounging

Many luxury catamarans even feature multiple levels and oversized flybridges, giving you more living space than a traditional motor yacht. Plus, the extra hull compartments provide abundant storage for water toys, gear, and provisions—ideal for extended voyages.

Fuel Efficiency and Extended Range

Fuel costs are a major consideration in yachting. Thanks to reduced drag and efficient twin-engine design, catamarans are typically more fuel-efficient than motor yachts.

This efficiency means:

Lower fuel consumption at cruising speeds

Longer range between refueling stops

Greater savings over time

For yacht owners who dream of exploring distant destinations, a catamaran offers both practicality and economy.

Shallow Draft Means Access to More Destinations

A catamaran’s shallow draft is a game-changer for explorers. Unlike motor yachts that require deeper waters, catamarans can easily access:

Shallow bays and coves

Hidden beaches

Smaller harbors

This ability unlocks more secluded destinations, making a catamaran ideal for those who crave off-the-beaten-path adventures.

Easy Maneuverability in Any Marina

Thanks to twin engines and dual hulls, a catamaran offers superior maneuverability compared to a motor yacht. Owners enjoy:

Precise handling in tight spaces

Easier docking in crowded marinas

Intuitive control for first-time yacht buyers

The ability to pivot in place makes a catamaran one of the most user-friendly yacht options available.

Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Choice

Modern yacht buyers are increasingly conscious of sustainability. A catamaran supports greener boating through:

Better fuel efficiency

Compatibility with solar panels and hybrid systems

Reduced environmental impact compared to large motor yachts

For eco-minded owners, a catamaran combines luxury with responsibility.

Strong Resale Value

Because of their durability and rising popularity, catamarans tend to hold value better than many motor yachts. If you plan to sell or upgrade in the future, you’re likely to enjoy a stronger return on investment.

At Navigator Yacht Group, we guide buyers toward catamarans that hold long-term value, whether you’re upgrading later or looking for a strong investment.

Conclusion: Why Choose a Catamaran?

Choosing between a motor yacht and a catamaran comes down to comfort, efficiency, and lifestyle. With more space, smoother cruising, access to secluded destinations, and eco-friendly benefits, a catamaran is the smart choice for modern yacht owners.

At Navigator Yacht Group, we specialize in pairing clients with the perfect yacht. Whether you’re a seasoned yachtsman or a first-time buyer, a catamaran offers unmatched versatility, luxury, and adventure.

Two Comar Yachts continue to make waves on the racing circuit: Giuseppe Massoni’s C38 Farheneit and Carlo Alfano’s C41 Aria. […]

Two Comar Yachts continue to make waves on the racing circuit: Giuseppe Massoni’s C38 Farheneit and Carlo Alfano’s C41 Aria. Both vessels showcased exceptional skill, strategy, and performance during the recent Riva–Montecristo race, confirming once again why Comar yachts are celebrated for their balance of speed, handling, and competitive spirit.

Coming off a strong showing in the 151 Miglia, Farheneit dominated the race, claiming the top podium spot in both ORC and IRC categories. “Farheneit is a very ordinary Comar 38, but it’s set up really well,” says Massoni. “We managed to take line honors, and then finding ourselves at the top of the IRC and ORC rankings is a great satisfaction. We’d love to be back on the water for ‘La Giraglietta,’ but the highlight of our season remains concentrated between April and June.”

Massoni’s remarks highlight a key strength of Comar Yachts: even models considered “ordinary” can deliver extraordinary results when expertly prepared. From hull optimization to rig tuning, Farheneit’s performance demonstrates the craftsmanship and intelligent design inherent in every Comar yacht.

Meanwhile, Aria, the C41 helmed by Carlo Alfano, also impressed, finishing a remarkable third in the ORC category. Alfano has no intention of converting his race-ready catamaran into a cruising setup. “The boat performs very well, and I had a blast at the Lunga Bolina, the Queen’s Cup of the Netherlands, and, of course, the Riva–Montecristo,” he explains. “After so many races with my friend Paolucci, we’re now direct rivals, and it’s great to compete with him on a boat that looks so dynamic for its age. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world,” Alfano adds enthusiastically.

The competition between Farheneit and Aria highlights both the timeless design of Comar Yachts and the camaraderie and rivalry that make offshore racing so compelling. These boats combine speed, stability, and precision handling, allowing experienced crews to push performance to the limit while maintaining control in challenging sea conditions.

The Riva–Montecristo race itself proved to be a true test of strategy, skill, and endurance. Long offshore legs, tactical upwind runs, and shifting winds created a challenging environment in which the smallest adjustments in sail trim and course plotting could determine the outcome. In this arena, both Farheneit and Aria demonstrated not only their speed but also the reliability and finesse that make Comar yachts favorites among competitive sailors.

Looking ahead, both crews are already setting their sights on upcoming regattas. With their proven performance, Farheneit and Aria are expected to continue their dominance on Mediterranean racecourses, reinforcing the reputation of Comar Yachts as high-performance vessels capable of thrilling victories while providing the safety and comfort crews expect.

The Brindisi–Corfu International Regatta is one of the Mediterranean’s most iconic offshore races, spanning 104 miles of open water. Known for unpredictable winds and challenging tactical decisions, it is a proving ground for both sailors and boats. In the 2025 edition, two Comar Yachts delivered standout performances: Splash Comet C 45s finished second in Class A Group G, while Verve Camer Comet C 50s secured third in Class 0 Group G.

These results highlight the exceptional design and resilience of Comar Yachts, vessels crafted in Italy with a legacy of performance, comfort, and style that continues to resonate with sailors worldwide.

A Battle Against Shifting Winds

This year’s race demanded constant adjustments as crews faced a long stretch of upwind sailing. Just as the finish line came into view, the wind dropped unexpectedly, adding one last obstacle to an already grueling crossing. Only the best-prepared boats and sharpest crews managed to hold their advantage.

“It was wonderful to arrive at six in the morning, before the wind abandoned the race course, less than a mile from the larger boats,” shared Gianni Savino, skipper of Splash. “We thought we were among 50-footers, but instead they were 60-footers. We were thrilled. We sailed with Dacron sails—a mainsail, spinnaker, and gennaker—while other boats had Code 0s, carbon sails, and masts. Yet the Comet C 45s held its own beautifully. It’s a boat built with composite construction and a perfect hull. We’ve cruised on it many times, and now we’re venturing into offshore racing, starting with the Brindisi–Corfu and the Est 105, and soon into the northern Adriatic.”

Verve Camer’s Fluid Performance

Aboard Verve Camer Comet C 50s, precision and responsiveness made the difference. “In these conditions, the boats that could detect even the smallest change in pressure excelled—and ours did not disappoint,” explained Captain Francesco Rima. “From the start, Verve glided across the water with grace, responding precisely to every adjustment. Even in the final miles, as the wind weakened, we stayed competitive against much larger opponents. Sailing on this yacht is silent, fluid, and truly exhilarating.”

Rima credited the crew and strong teamwork for the result. With owner Giuseppe Greco, tactician Tonia, and an experienced group from Compagnia della Vela Salento, the team demonstrated perfect harmony under pressure. Supported by partners Camer, Cielle Impianti, Unipol, Nuovarredo, Caffè Sereno, and Metalgi, Verve Camer is already preparing for upcoming challenges, including the Veleziana and Barcolana regattas.

Comar Yachts: Built for Racing and Cruising

The achievements of Splash and Verve Camer at Brindisi–Corfu 2025 reinforce the reputation of Comar Yachts as leaders in Italian yacht building. Known for their innovative design, balance, and strength, Comet models seamlessly transition between relaxed cruising and competitive offshore racing.

While many enthusiasts associate catamarans with speed and stability, Comar’s monohulls like the Comet C 45s and C 50s demonstrate that finely tuned yachts can rival and often outperform larger or more modern competitors. Their ability to hold pace in challenging conditions proves the value of craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Sailing Into the Future

As Splash and Verve Camer set their sights on new regattas, their success at Brindisi–Corfu stands as a reminder of what makes Comar Yachts exceptional: boats that endure, inspire, and deliver thrilling performance year after year. Whether for racing, cruising, or simply experiencing the beauty of sailing, these yachts remain a symbol of Italian excellence on the water.
